I'm Italian and have family from New York so I know good New York style pizza and this is it. This is the best pizza joint in town!

Located across from the Fleming Island High School, New York Pizza is a great place for residents and visitors to grab some great food. The menu items I have tried so far include a calzone, a Sicilian pizza, and garlic knots. The first garlic knots I had were heaven with garlic all over them. They were warm, soft, and smothered with real minced garlic and butter. And at $0.50 each, who can go wrong?! Just make sure you get them fresh. The last two times I had them they were not exactly soft and warm, and also tasted like they had been sitting in a warmer for a while. The calzone was huge, and served two people for two separate meals. They are a little pricey, but delicious! You may want to ask for extra marinara if you're a Big Dipper like myself. Lastly, the Sicilian. I personally didn't enjoy it as much as I had hoped. The pizza was huge and looked absolutely delicious, but the look did not match the taste or cost. This pizza seemed to be lacking something, but I can't put my finger on it. If you do order this one, expect a huge crust that is actually very airy. And also make sure you aren't double charged for toppings. (We were and had to go back in for a refund) I have yet to try the actual New York pizza, so that's next on the list! Perhaps I will try one of their lunch specials for next time.

This place is FANTASTIC!! The food is so good. The mozzarella sticks are the best we have ever had. And their chicken wings are fresh. Not a lot of places use this type of wing sauce. My kids go here everyday after school. And the employes are all so nice. Fleming Island is lucky to have this place.

So, I'm a fan of New York Pizza. I don't think it is as good as pizza gets, or that it deserves a full 4 stars... maybe 3.5. The owners are local, which is a plus in my book, but their product just isn't wiz-bang quality. We've now had food from the NY pizza twice (well, 3 times if you include the 4 garlic knots we ordered on their own). First go-round we ordered a calzone and garlic knots - the calzone was well done in that it was very tasty, cheesy, and well proportioned as far as toppings go. The crust was just right and OMG the garlic buttery goodness they baste on top... YUM. The garlic knots are topped with the same spread that is just so good but you can tell it's oh-so bad for the arteries... oh well. We were decently happy with our food, so we ordered again.... Or official second time ordering was just for 4 garlic knots as an add on to our homemade food... but we were disappointed that the garlic knots were "ready whenever you get here"... meaning they were sitting around, getting cold. They were indeed cold and needed to be microwaved when we got them home... The "sicilian" is their square cut, thick crust pan pizza. It wasn't my favorite pizza, I'll just say that. It didn't taste very authentic, but then again this is "the New York pizza." At $18 for a one topping, we won't be getting it again. I've had much better pizza for much less. We had an issue with the check to begin with (getting double charged for the pepperoni) - the owner was very easy to work with to get it resolved, but it was surprising to hear her say that they don't sell many sicilians with toppings and this is the first anyone has said anything about the way it gets charged... Their New York pizza is very large, round shaped, and thin-looking. We have yet to try it. A plus is that they do sell it by the slice, but I'm not sure how long it has been sitting out. Each time we've been in to grab our order I've noticed that this place seems to be a high-school hangout, so the pizza-by-the-slice must be there for this crowd. I might partake in this to try out this style before I pay for a whole one. It's a conveniet, alright pizza place with amazing garlic knots. Those aren't that hard to make... so I give them 3 stars for being a decent pizza place in FI.

So I decided to check this place out after a friend recommended it. It's a small little restaurant snuggled in between little beans children's resale and I can't remember the other store. There's plenty of seating and it looks and smells clean. The menu is straightforward and basic. Pizza, calzones, typical Italian dishes. We opted for a large 18" speciality pizza. Half BBQ chicken and half margherita. $20 after tax. Took about 10-15 mins to come out. But when it did, it was huge and steaming hot! I was confused as to why the chicken was breaded on the BBQ side as it's usually grilled. But nevertheless it was still tasty. I felt as though the margherita side was missing that special zing, but it was tasty too. We ordered some garlic knots which were very good. But at .50 each, they can get pricey, quickly. During school season I've seen this place PACKED with students. I'm guessing they are there for the $1 per slice pizza. We will definitely be back as we love supporting local, family owned businesses and not the nasty chains. 3.5 star rating.

Just ate here for the first time and will definitely be back. We had the garlic knots and a pizza, both were amazing. The owners are very friendly, the food was quick the music selection was great.

This was my second time giving them a try. The first time I was underwhelmed by the Pizza but they were pretty new. I just chalked it up to being a new place. This time I had a friend in town that wanted pizza so I thought I would give them another try. Again they fell short. The pizza crust has a nice flavor and bite to it but the pizza overall was very dry. not enough sauce, not enough cheese.. In my humble opinion an 18 inch pizza NY STYLE should be a little greasy from the toppings. I've eaten a lot of pizza in NYC in my lifetime and sorry.. but this isn't even close. I love to support local family owned businesses but not sure I will go back a 3rd time but I do wish them luck.

I ordered a pepperoni and veggie pie. They were a unique taste but not like a New York City pizza. The crust was good but not crispy and it didn't seem to have enough cheese for my taste. Next time I go I'll just try a plain slice.

This place is great and they deliver. Tried the wings a thick crust pizza and cheese sticks. They were all delish. Plan for an hour on delivery.

We don't eat chain food pizza and sometimes Mellow mushroom can be a little costly, so we tried NY pizza. The first time we went there, we weren't really a fan. The pizza had way too much sauce to cheese ratio, crust couldn't even hold it BUT the flavor of the sauce was amazing so...we gave them another try. Second time around was great! The prices are good. The pizza's have huge slices (which we love), and during the week when my son is craving a slice you can't beat the $1 cheese slices. We love this place, and it's now one of our go to pizza places now. Definitely worth a try!

Tried NY pizza for the first time and it was great! Not a huge fan of mellow mushroom and I think chain pizza is over rated. I will hands down be choosing NY pizza before any other in Fleming Island.

Pizza is a hard thing to rate. Everyone likes it a different way. We got take out over thanksgiving weekend. The kids got pepperoni which they loved. They had had it before. The Hawaiian was pretty good. But the margherita was awful. Not enough cheese and the fresh basil was cooked on the pizza. The basil became hard and gritty; very hard to chew. The crust is good. Its crispy and thin with good texture. Personally this is not my favorite pizza joint. But my kids enjoy it.

The pizza here is pretty good. The only critiques I have are the wait time and the environment. The first time we ordered from there it was approximately a 45 min wait. The second time it was about 35 minutes after being told our pizza would be ready in 15. I like this place for take out, but I would not eat there. It is extremely quite in the building since there is no music. There appears to be speakers installed in the ceiling so I don't know why they aren't utilized. If they are functional, just throwing on some Italian music or Rat Pack radio might make the customers feel more like they are in an Italian place and less like they are at a wake.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century.
